This week in maths Year 2 have been exploring part whole problems and used reasoning to understand the commutative law. Can you explain what this is to someone at home? e.g. “If 5 is my whole then 3 is a part and ___ is a part”

This weeks English challenge has been to create our own poem inspired by the book Quiet. 

We focused on punctuating our sentences with full stops, capital letters & commas. Can you complete a sound walk and record the sounds as onomatopoeia words.

 

 

 

 

 

Help! Can you find the missing treasure?

Locating lost treasure on maps and across the school playground has been this weeks focus in Topic. Can you explain to an adult at home which direction is North, South, East and West?

 

 

 

 

 

 

Next week we will be focusing on:

  • Verbs
  • Phonics – adding ed and ing suffixes. How many of these can you find over the weekend? What do you notice about the following words when we add ed or ing to them (skip, run, swim, tap).
  • Maths – Adding and subtracting across 10 by regrouping numbers (’12 – 7 the 7 can be partitioned into 2 and 5).
  • Topic – Naming and locating the Worlds oceans.
