The Jar of Happiness

January 5, 2018

Welcome back and a very happy new year to all of our Skylark and Swift families.

To kick off our week we looked at a lovely book called ‘The Jar of Happiness’ about a girl called Meg who collects in a jar all the things that make her happy. However, one day the jar went missing…

We searched high and low for it. Some of us even following a mysterious clue that led to the forest…

… but we couldn’t find it. So we thought of some super solutions for Meg…

“Remember the happy times you had”.
“Try some mindful drawing to help you remember where you put it”.
“Happiness isn’t found in a jar. It’s within yourself. You just need help to find it”.

We then had a super philosophy session discussing the theme of happiness and came up with some poignant¬† questions…

In Maths we have been practising our Arithmetic and reasoning skills and have begun to see how repeated addition is the same as multiplication. For example, 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 is the same as 3 x 4.

We also began our new topic ‘All You Need is Love!’ and were introduced to all things ‘sixties!’

Can you tell your family the rule for adding ‘ge’ and ‘dge’ to the end of words? (huge v fudge)

Next week we will be…

  • Writing poetry based on The Jar of Happiness
  • Exploring multiplication and division
  • Learning about the Jewish festival of Passover
  • Enjoying our sixties themed learning street and delving further into our topic

Happy weekend!
